The format continues with Alan and event partner Jamie Kelly handpicking another five of the best bands and giving them the opportunity to perform on the Greasy Lips Club stage. Tipped for big things, Exit Calm released their debut album this year and have an extensive tour running through this year. Having supported the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and The Charlatans last year, they have collected along the way a loyal fan base. Aside from their self titled album being potentially the best album you will hear all year, their new EP “Don’t Look Down” was released in the UK on 4 October. See them on stage and you will witness this band come alive and create an atmosphere of epic proportions.
Exit Calm's self-titled debut album will be released in Canada and the USA on Tuesday, October 12th.
"with ragged vocals and swathes of widescreen guitar effects reminiscent of early Verve, South Yorkshires four-piece Exit Calm have a penchant for all things epic" (Q MAGAZINE) “Exit Calm are so far out in front of the rest of the competition at present it's frightening. In fact, you can almost imagine bands forming in their wake as we speak.” (DROWNED IN SOUND) Please find enclosed the inspired, self titled debut album from South Yorkshire, England based four piece Exit Calm. A sonic and soulful masterpiece, this impressive debut showcases the band's distinctive wall of immense and anthemic sound whilst simultaneously introducing you to a band whose sincerity, presence and originality serves to remind you what ‘real’ bands are all about.
Produced by Paddy Byrne (Unkle, The Hours) and mixed by renowned mixer and remixer Ulrich Schnauss, the album features current single ‘Hearts and Minds’ alongside live favourites such as ‘We’re On Our Own’, ‘Serenity’, the cinematically beautiful ‘Reference’ and psychedelic ambition of ‘Recovery’.
No stranger to travelling the length and breadth of Britain, Exit Calm toured the UK last year supporting the likes of Echo and The Bunnymen, The Charlatans, Modest Mouse and Soulsavers; gathering and expanding a fervently loyal fan base along the way.
With heady guitars, ambient and effect laden layers, echoes of musical heroes such as The Verve and Spiritualized are undeniable, yet Exit Calm’s delivery is incomparably unique and in a class of its own. This is a band that once seen, leave no doubt in belief; coming alive on stage and evoking an atmosphere of epic proportions. Exit Calm is sure to be the greatest debut album you will hear this year.
Already making major waves in their native UK, the self-titled album will be released in North America by Sonic Unyon on October 12th, 2010.

"File under the greatest rock bands of all time."
Clint Boon, XFM
"Unashamedly epic, their effects-laden sound adds a wide-eyed romantic edge that is alluringly easy to lose yourself in." –
"Bruised indie-rock that builds and builds before spilling over into beauty one minute, and raw aggression the next." –
"A four-piece whose wall of sound defies classification." –
"Immensley focused, delivered with ferocious intensity." –
"Anglophiles, rejoice. Sounding like a hybrid of The Verve and Echo & the Bunnymen, this U.K. four-piece from South Yorkshire already has a remarkable sense of dynamics. Plus, this is loud in the way that the guitars on Oasis’s Be Here Now are loud, which is to say that the music seems to saturate the space between it and your ears." –
John Sakamoto, The Toronto Star

"God DAMN I love the sound of this band! It was one of those rare moments when I looked at the stereo and went “What IS this?” (Caution: Before you go any further, please understand that my reaction is rooted in a deep, deep appreciate of anything the Verve did from Urban Hymns backwards. If you do not share this fetish, then please disregard. Move on. There’s nothing to see here.) They’re called Exit Calm and this single, “Hearts & Minds,” is from a self-titled CD that will get a Canadian release on October 12. I’ve heard the whole thing and it’s definitely going to be on my Top Ten list for 2010."
